Let's Get Active!

Second class have been working on the Let's Get Active award over the past number of weeks. They all have been making a huge effort to be active during the school day, at home in the evenings and at weekends. Today our class had a visit from Christina Duff who is the schools physical activity coordinator with the Irish Heart Foundation. The class got to give their feedback on the programme and the individual booklets. We really enjoyed the session today and the whole programme gets a thumbs up from us!

Hurling 2022

Second class are delighted to be back working with hurling coach David Huban again. Everyone loves training and improving their skills.

Junior Achievement

Second class have been enjoying working on the Junior Achievement programme with third and fourth class over the past few weeks. It has been lovely to see the classes mixing together again. The theme of the programme is 'Our City' and the children have been learning about what is involved in city planning and all about the various city zones. They have also learned about what it takes to become an entrepreneur and have designed advertisements for new shops

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to the children in second class who made their First Confession and First Holy Communion recently. Everyone looked amazing and did a great job on the 7th of May. A fantastic day was had by all.

Art in Nature

Second class have been learning about trees recently so we decided to go outside and examine some of the trees on our school grounds. We looked at the colour, shape and texture of the bark and leaves. We also looked for any mini beasts or animals living in or around the trees. We took some leaf and bark rubbings too. It was good fun!

Readathon 2022

Everyone in second class really enjoyed the Readathon this year. We all read lots of books and raised a lot of money too. We had DEAR time in our classroom every day and it was very enjoyable. We also had a visit from the author Kate McMahon. It was very interesting to hear about how she comes up with ideas for her books.
